2012 BLACK AND BLUE - FORTIFIED ZINFANDEL
Keys Review of Wine - Review by Tony Keys
Inkwell ‘Black and Blue’ Late Harvest McLaren Vale Fortified Zinfandel 2012: A wine to temp the Sally Army to take to drink, a wonderful dark temptress whose arms I was happy to fall into 96 points and $35 for a 375 ml bottle is pricy but this is worth it.
The Winefront - review by Gary Walsh
I’m no expert on fortified wines, but I’ll have a go. Dudders tells me it’s my job to work these things out. Such a cute bottle too: you almost want to cuddle it.
Spice, plum duff, the rancio character of old wood, prune, sweet rolling tobacco, stout – all manner of things really. Full bodied, and what else could it possibly be!
Has a slick glycerol feel tuned up with a clip of tannin. Tastes of dried cherry and dark boiled fruitcake, almond paste and a liberal amount of spice. Warm glow and good spread of tannin on the finish. It’s an intriguing and characterful wine. Recommended.

The Vinsomniac - Review By Stuart Robinson
Beautiful bottle here (alas no image), like a large...inkwell.
Black and blue. Smells as its name suggests. Of Muscatels, rum and raisin, spice; black and blue fruit - a little of that rancio, caramel aroma.
Thick, black, layered, delicious depth - molasses and licorice. Then, of cherry, spice and fruitcake. Whilst it may have been 30+ degrees over Christmas here in Brisbane, this was a more than adequate substitute for a Christmas pudding for me.
Has the spirited burn - sweet, candied fruit, again fruitcake, plum pudding, sticky pudding depth and hedonistic pleasure. Mr Brown, you've done it again. 93
